Sr. Mary Elizabeth, the daughter of James and Edith Boede, entered the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on December 31, 1993.  A member of St. Margaret Mary Parish in Wichita, Sister attended grade school there before going on to Bishop Carroll Catholic High School.  This is where she met the Sisters, having six of her eight Religion classes taught by one of the IHM’s.

After two years of college, Sister realized that the restlessness in her heart was Jesus calling her to be His Bride; her involvement in the pro-life movement had led her to a more intense living of her faith.  At World Youth Day in Denver, she made the resolve to enter the IHM Sisters.  While she looked into other orders, she realized God’s call to serve in the community and diocese that had formed her.  After receiving her undergraduate degree in secondary education, Sister began teaching at Bishop Carroll over twenty years ago and has taught at all of the diocesan Catholic High Schools as well as Holy Cross in Hutchinson. Recently she completed the Master’s in Psychology program through Divine Mercy University.  These past twenty-five years of professed religious life have been a blessing to Sr. Mary Elizabeth; she reflects, “Our Lord cannot be outdone in generosity.  I feel I have given Him so little and He has surrounded me with His love and grace, so much more than I could have imagined; I hope to be able to continue to give in response to His undivided love.”
