The Auxiliary of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary was established for the mutual benefit of our religious Institute and those who join the auxiliary as members. The Sisters pray in a special way for the members of the auxiliary and their intentions. This specifically occurs in the Liturgy of the Hours with Mid-day Prayer each day and weekly in the intercessions at Evening prayer. In addition, a monthly Mass intention is offered for the auxiliary. The Institute also offers opportunities for spiritual growth and a share in the IHM charism by celebrating the annual Novena to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the vigil on Holy Saturday in honor of Our Lady of Sorrows, and by providing Days of Recollection during particular liturgical seasons.
Auxiliary members fulfill an important spiritual role by offering to pray for the Sisters, the other auxiliary members and the intentions of both. Furthermore, each month, the auxiliary gathers in the afternoon on the third Sunday in order to pray, share in a reflection or short talk by one of the Sisters, and discuss Community news and upcoming events. Since its establishment in 2000, the auxiliary has greatly assisted the Sisters with projects, work-days, and at important functions and celebrations. The auxiliary of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary is a wonderful expression of love for Our Lady and religious life through the means of heartfelt prayer and dedicated service.
