Pope Francis has provided an opportunity for a plenary indulgence for the 100th Anniversary of the Fatima apparitions during the centennial year: Nov. 27, 2016, through Nov. 26, 2017. One of the three ways to obtain the indulgence is to visit and venerate a statue of Our Lady of Fatima on the 13th of May, June, July, August, September, or October. The thirteenth day of those months marks the anniversary of each apparition.
In addition to visiting and venerating a statue on the Fatima anniversaries, the faithful must also receive Holy Communion, pray for the intentions of the Holy Father, and be detached from sin; in addition, either eight days before or after the anniversary, one must go to Confession. These are the requirements for obtaining a plenary indulgence.
On Sunday, May 7, 2017, the International Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Fatima will be at the Novitiate House of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The Sisters would like to invite you to attend; specific times and events will be posted as the date approaches. Please check back.
Also, please join the Sisters in praying:
O Queen of the Rosary, Sweet Virgin of Fatima, who has deigned to appear in the land of Portugal, we beg you to watch over our dear homeland and assure its moral and spiritual revival. Bring back peace to all the nations of the world so that all, our own nation in particular, may be happy to call you their Queen and the Queen of Peace. Amen. Our Lady of the Rosary, pray for our country. Our Lady of Fatima, obtain for all humanity a lasting peace.
